Challenge: Human Resource and Communications managers at Boston Scientific wanted to develop a communication vehicle that would help employees feel that they are a part of the company's successes and that their work is important.

Solution: Boston Scientific turned to DCP to conceive of their internal company communication because they firmly believe that "If you don't make it compelling, they aren't going to read it."

The result was Next - an eight-page, full-color, magazine-style publication that goes beyond traditional HR newsletters. Each issue features an in-depth doctor and patient story that demonstrates how Boston Scientific's state-of-the-art medical technology equipment helped a surgeon perform a lifesaving procedure. With professional photographs, these stories connect employees personally and emotionally with the company. Next also showcases the company's latest innovations, allowing employees to tap into the greater vision of the company. Lastly, Next delivers company news, including a calendar of events and names/photos of new employees.

Results: Next helps Boston Scientific employees make a connection between their work and the lives of real people. The HR department reports that overall job satisfaction ratings are very high and they believe Next contributes to that success. Next has also turned out to be an excellent tool for building relationships with top doctors.
