Stepping Up to the Plate

Challenge: The San Francisco Giants wanted to use their game program as a marketing and communications tool that provided more than records, rosters and stats. They needed to produce this extended program cost effectively, without taxing their internal marketing resources.

Solution: DCP recommended an enhanced magazine format for the team's souvenir program. DCP's project team went to work organizing and managing content development, art direction, design, production and distribution. The ultimate product, a 108-page, full-color, glossy game program, gives fans just what they've been wanting—a behind-the-scenes look at the baseball players, their coaches and broadcast crew, and a guide to their stadium.

Results: By outsourcing all publishing tasks to DCP, the Giants got exactly what they hoped for—an informative and entertaining magazine at a lower cost than if they produced it themselves. DCP's publishing expertise helped the ballclub save considerable production costs and thousands of employee hours. The Giants' marketing department was able to concentrate on its core responsibilities—selling tickets and sponsorships, and promoting the team.

"DCP takes as much pride in G Magazine as we do. They've freed us from the heavy burden of producing this magazine. They've given us wonderful, high-quality material."
